We apologize for the spotty nonexistent posting. Honestly, T and I have been trying to decide what to do with this blog. We had grande plans in the beginning. We wanted to post updates and pictures of our new little family, while keeping friends and family updated on the happenings of the city we love. Grande plan, indeed!

Now that I’m a little more blog savvy, I’ve become more and more aware of issues that can arise when you put personal information and pictures (especially of your children) on the World Wide Web. While, I haven’t yet asked T to yank all the pictures that we’ve already posted, I am more careful not to post pictures of C’s face. I apologize to all of our family and friends who depend on this blog for their cute kid fix. Trust me when I tell you that he’s still cute and he’s getting cuter every day. The whole “to post pics or not” debate isn’t over. We’ll soon come to a decision on whether to password the pics or just say “to heck with it” and post away!

Obviously, since I’m living the leisurely life of a stay-at-home-mom (insert sarcastic throat-clearing here) and T is hard at work trying to keep us fed (that really is true), you’ll be hearing mostly from me. Sorry. T is much more clever, computer literate, and grammatically correct than I. Photos will be mis-sized. Sentences will end with prepositions. Participles will dangle. Commas and “…” ’s will be abundant. It’s just how I roll. Consider that your warning.

T is also the one who is better at plugging happenings around the ‘Ham. I can tell you when Target has put new markdowns on their end caps (usually Tuesdays/Wednesdays) and what’s on sale at Publix (Triscuits are BOGO this week), but I’ll do my darnedest to give you some truly local tidbits as well.

A lot has happened since our last post and I plan to catch you up with some faceless vague pictures: our first pumpkin patch, C’s first Trunk-or-Treat, I’ve changed my hair color again (I don’t plan to bore you with pictures of that, but I thought it was worth mentioning)…

So, stay tuned!

One year ago today we posted our first little blip here on BryantsofBham. And though we haven’t kept up the pace, over the past few weeks, it just seemed that this was something to mark.

So Happy Blogaversary everyone! Thanks for stopping by and we look forward to many more posts and conversations in the future.

Sorry about the lag in posting. We’re having to do some site restructuring. We’re still here and will be back under full steam as soon as we can.

In the meantime you could pick up a copy of the new 332-page book on the history of dear old Troy (don’t-call-me-State) University. The Birmingham News wrote a little blurb on it this weekend, though I’m sure it did little to whet anyone’s appetite.

math?

We’re fully upgraded and fully filtered! That’s the good news. The bad news is that I have added a new ’security’ feature to the comments section. And unfortunately, it involves math.

I cannot begin to tell you how much it pains me to do this. But it really seemed to be the simplest way to fix the problem. I know. I know. Adding a problem to fix a problem, just doesn’t add up. And forcing math on visitors really is the antithesis of all that our little corner of the web has been built on…
But now when you comment, if you would be so kind as to add the two little numbers it asks, the site will process your comment. This solution does use a bit of php and javascript, so if it gives you any trouble please let me know and I’ll fix it.

Unless the trouble you’re having is solving the math problem, then I’m afraid I’m can’t be of much help.
Don’t blame me. Blame the spammers.

We’re making site adjustments one more time, tonight. So the site will be up and down starting at 9:30 pm CST.

We had 830 comments submitted within two hours. So the spammers haven’t given up. They may have won the first battle, but we’ll win the war!

I had to ’select all’ and delete the comments. I just didn’t have the time to scour the list for any legit comments. So if you had posted a comment in the past 48 hours, we thank you for stopping by and checking in and please do so again real soon, but I had to delete your comment.

Since there are those who have nothing better to do than flood little family blogs like ours with hundreds of spam comments per hour, I will have to take BryantsofBham down tonight and upgrade my filters.

I’ll start sometime after 11pm CST. on 12/11 and will (hopefully) be back up and running a few hours later.
Oh yeah, if any of you are looking for an online poker site, a good deal on viagra or care to send your bank account numbers to some folks willing to share $21 million with you, just let me know. We’ve had plenty of recommendations the past few days. Stupid spammers.
