If you’re anything like us, you probably have little fingerprint smudges all over your computer screen (or maybe even big ones). We found a great way to clean it up. Just click here.
If you have any little ones or family pets around, call them over. Or easily amused adults. They’ll like it, too!
Props to Holley for the link!
Edited to add: Looks like all the traffic has shut the site down. Bummer! Maybe they’ll get it back up soon!

I ran across a cool site that has posted Christmas songs that have been pulled from old wax cylinder recordings. All of the music was recorded 1904-1939, on wax. Not cd’s or cassettes. Not even 8-tracks or vinyl, but wax cylinders.
All you have to do to listen is double-click on a song title or right-click to download it.
I was surprised at the clarity. I wonder if they did much clean-up to them after digitizing them?
Enjoy!

The R2-D2 mailboxes have been out for a while (promoting the Star Wars collectible stamps), but I am seeing more of these around town and meant to post a picture a while back, for those who don’t have one in their hometown. This is the one on 1st Avenue North.

I just heard that tonight’s Grey’s Anatomy will feature a song by Wild Sweet Orange, one of our favorite local B’ham bands. I’m not sure which song yet, but I’ll post it if I find out in time.
Also, the Chad Fisher Group took home a BAMA award the other night for best local jazz group! Congrats to them! Hopefully the new album will be out soon…

This is just too amazing not to share. This guy creates super-small microscopic statues out of sugar crystals and dust particles. Some of his work can only be done between heartbeats and it all fits on the heads of needles and pins.
That’s Snow White and all seven dwarves inside the needle’s eye and the witch up top. Amazing! If it hadn’t been on Snopes I might have cried for a “PhotoShop foul”!

The Central Birmingham Library starts percolating on Monday. Today they announced their partnership with Safari Cup in opening a cafe in the library’s atrium. Right now, they are set to serve between 9am and 4pm, Monday through Friday.
They already provide free wi-fi and this sounds like a cool idea too, as long as the noise is kept in check.

Birmingham is turning into a nation-wide wi-fi wonder…
