The grapevine passed along some good news today:
Scott’s Koneys has found a home on 3rd Ave South!
In two weeks, they will move to the street level floor of the Liberty National Insurance building. That is just half of a block further, from my work, than their present location. No withdrawal pangs here!

The R2-D2 mailboxes have been out for a while (promoting the Star Wars collectible stamps), but I am seeing more of these around town and meant to post a picture a while back, for those who don’t have one in their hometown. This is the one on 1st Avenue North.

We bought a few new prints at this year’s Magic City Art Connection. The three-day event was packed with a lot of new artists that hadn’t shown in Birmingham before.
We did miss the Indian Classical-Folk Fusion Dance performance (I can’t imagine what that was like), but the puppet show was pretty funny and the fried turkey legs were worth standing in line for 15 minutes. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

Also, the Chad Fisher Group took home a BAMA award the other night for best local jazz group! Congrats to them! Hopefully the new album will be out soon…

The ‘ham is gaining two new dining spots. Toast Bakery is locally owned and located on the corner of 2nd Avenue South and 24th Street. Which is within walking distance of where I work!
The other is out on 280 and is trying to light a fire under the resurgence of fondue. The Melting Pot is part of a national chain and is slated to open the first week of March out at Lee Branch.
