He aged two years today

Today, we paid a visit to Mr. Clay’s Barbershop.
Evidently, the trick to a tear-free first haircut is to develop your game plan… and hand out plenty of lollipops.

Then you start with all of those curls in the back…

then the bangs.

Once you get around to the sides, you better be quick…

because little boys don’t like people messing with the ears!

But it wasn’t long before we were…

DONE!

Of course, on the ride home, he realized that there were no more lollipops to be had today.

You sure know how to make an old grammy have a few tears. He’s beautiful even tho’ he’s aged considerably. He sure was good. How did you two handle it?
What a magnificent photo essay. Of course, if it were about Ed Klimpner’s kid down the street it wouldn’t be nearly as magnificent. Hugs to the “young man” from der grosseonkle.
I know Mr Clay! He used to work at Vestavia Barber Shop, site of my own first haircut.
He just needs his suit and briefcase and he’s ready for the office! So, were you sad? I had tears when H got his first cut. Something about little boys losing their curls that makes a mommy cry…
Mommy was surprisingly OK with it! I was a little weepy after I hung up from making the appointment, though.
It didn’t hurt that I was very preoccupied with his eating a sucker for the first time and the sticky, hairy mess that resulted!
