Did anyone think Baxley even came close to holidng her own? No real fight tonight, huh? Oh well. It was fun watching the broadcast and keeping up with the live-bloggers as they re-capped, scored the debate and posted commentary.
Riley was the winner across the board on every site/blog I found. If you want to read more Wade on Birmingham and Politics in Alabama have much much more. They both have good stuff!

Never seen these shots of a shuttle launch before. The email they came with stated they were taken from the International Space Station, but now the consensus seems to be that they’re taken from a high altitude chase plane.
Either way… pretty cool!

make that “cut his first and second tooth this week.”

This is why the world has engineers… to make cool things like toast printers! The wall mounted contraption burns any image you want on each slice of bread with a 12 x 12 resolution.
That’s just too cool! Or is it hot? No word yet on price or availability. But we’ll keep you toasted posted.

we’re not sure how excited we are about C’s latest milestone. Our four and a half month old little man, cut his first tooth this week. Right now it’s just a little sliver of white peeking through his gums. It’s hard to see, but you can feel it!

after buying Parisian from Saks, moving operations north and letting go hundreds of local workers they are now chopping up the department store group they bought and selling off individual stores.
It’ll be interesting to see what’s left of the Birmingham-born chain after the dust settles.

Jim Baggett of the Birmingham Library is leading an hour-long walking tour of some of downtown’s more notorious historic sites. It’s planned for October 27th at 5:45 pm. Their blog says it’ll cover “murders, mysteries and fallen women”.
How fun does that sound? The weather is perfect and the event is free, though you do need to call them and make a reservation.

C finally got to meet Natalie (of Scott & Natalie fame). They came by the office on Friday for a visit.

Since Troy isn’t playing this weekend, you could head over to the Kentuck Art Festival. It’s supposed to be big this year and Pop Goes the City has highlighted some of the cool print artists that will be there.
Also, this weekend is the Birmingham Junior League’s “The Market” at the BJCC.
And if you’re one of the unfortunate ones unable to make Troy’s Homecoming, the weekend of November 4th, you can head down into Hoover for the Moss Rock Festival. It’s a new outdoor event near a great hike featured in 60 Hikes within 60 Miles: Birmingham.

and learning how to eat with a spoon. We just started this week and it’s been fun so far. Well… except for the fact that I can’t feed my kid without cereal getting stuffed up his nose. But that must be the reason God invented moms. B hasn’t missed a spoonful.
