Bryants of Bham

After much prodding…

June6

Cullen T. Bryant was born today! Mom and baby are both beautiful and doing fine.

The past 36 hours was one long wild ride for baby and mom (dad just held on best he could). When the rollercoaster finally stopped, Cullen tipped the scales at 8 pounds 8 ounces and stretched out to a comfortable 21 inches long. He has his dad’s fondness for sleeping and his mom’s eyes and toes!

We’re just posting two pictures now (we all need our sleep tonight!), but you can bet a tidal wave of photos is headed your way!

Thanks to everyone who has sent well-wishes and stopped by to say ‘hi’ and meet the little guy!

A Watched Pot

June4

The old saying must be true… this pot ain’t boilin’! As I post this, it’s less than an hour until June 5th. Doesn’t look I’ll be a youthful mom in her twenties. I’ve spent the past week trying to keep busy so that time would pass a little faster that I forgot to freak out over turning 30. But I’m sitting here now, really thinking about it, and I’m not freaked out by 30 at all. Now becoming someone’s mom this week… that’s another story!

Who would have thought…

June3

that my son would be a procrastonator?

Today was the day, but Cullen has yet to come out and play. So we wait… and wait… and wait.

But I did use the extra time to post pictures of the nursery (thanks to Billie Gayle and Aunt Laura for all their work putting all the bedding together… having real talent in the family is great!) All we’re lacking is our rocking chair (and a baby). Hopefully both will be here in the next few days.

Room with a pew…

June1

I found out what they’re doing with the old 32nd Baptist Church building. They’re turning it into loft apartments! Why does that strike me as odd? Do other places recycle their old church buildings this way?

I watch the workers every day, when I drive to/from work. I just assumed they were prepping it for demo… but no. Now there’s a sign.

Someone here in the office said that they’ll start in the low $350,000’s and go up. It’s true that it’s within walking distance of O.T.’s (one of our favorite eats in town) but that’s a lot of cash for a place that overlooks a Firestone Tire Center parking lot/shop.

Ahhhh, those great grapes…

June1

There’s a new wine bar opening in town.

It’s called “The Wine Loft” and is setting up shop on the southern tip of the downtown loft district (just one block from my workplace)!

They should be pulling corks by late summer and hopefully will be a neat quiet place to sample stuff from around the world by the glass. I think the original one is in New Orleans.

The Grape has been at the Summit for a while. But it’s too far and the crowd never seemed right when we drove by. Not too mention you request wines by number on some covoluted scale system.

I have higher hopes for this one.
